USAIGC World Championships in Orlando 2014

8 Gymnasts from Booker Gym Club qualified for the USAIGC World Championships in Orlando this year and came home with 15 medals!


The numbers in each category were very large and the standard was high, with over 1200 gymnasts qualifying across all ages and levels  from numerous States in America plus UK, South Africa, Bermuda, Canada & Mexico.   Due to the high numbers the gymnasts were medalled on Individual Apparatus up to 5th place

In Copper, Maya Zajac-Acheampong stole the show for the UK with a Gold on Vault, 4th on Bars and 5th on Beam, medalling 8th in All Round.   Ciara Higley also got 4th on Vault and medalled 9th in All Round, Phoebe Cotes medalled 4th on Floor and 5th All Round, plus Isabella Baillieu medalled 16th All Round.

In Bronze, Charlie Bunt medalled 4th on Floor & Beam and 7th All Round, while Amy Longhurst medalled 4th on Floor.

In Bronze Diamond, Anna Hunter medalled 3rd on Floor and Hana-Marie Cantrell took another Gold for the UK on Vault.  Both girls received plaques for overall high scores.

We also proved competitive in the Team competition with Booker’s Copper Team came 9th and the Bronze Team came 10th out of 42 teams.

All the girls, their families and the coaches had an amazing time and are looking forward to the UK Championships in October and a chance to qualify for 2015 World Championships in California next year.  With this in mind, Booker is looking for help from local businesses through sponsorship to help fund their budding gymnasts to continue competing internationally in 2015
